First Fashion: Our Favorites From What's New

My boyfriend’s ex invited us to her huge Hamptons wedding at the end of August. A brief description of said ex? Pretty, successful, funny, and unfailingly kind. Needless to say, I’m in the midst of a full-on fashion freakout. My current what-the-hell-should-I-wear frontrunners follow:

Creative draping gives this style a couture sort of vibe that says “I’m fashion-forward and arty, but still respect that this is a formal event.” Mint Jodi Arnold Strapless Drape Dress
I always reach for Shoshanna when I need to feel fantastic—girl knows to cut a dress that flatters. Plus, my shoulders are the only part of my body I don’t have some major hang-up about, and this shows them off nicely. Shoshanna Scallop Dress
So ladylike and elegant. The color goes great with the gold Pedro Garcia sandals I’m going to wear. (And the permanently-filled glass of champagne I’m planning to have in my hand.) Lauren Merkin Diana Satin Clutch
Those difficult events in life? So much easier to get through with great fashion on your side. Get yours right here in What’s New.

Sweet Meets Sophisticated

The upside of being hung-over and sofa-ridden on a Sunday? Finally having the opportunity to break open the collector's edition Sex and the City boxed set we received last Christmas. And after eight-plus rejuvenating hours of quality time with Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha, we were back to our old selves, craving Thai food and a wardrobe of flirty-yet-fashion-forward styles fit for lunch dates with dashing moguls and ladies' nights out. Fortunately for us, our favorite designers are in a similar frame of mind this spring. We're snapping up unabashedly feminine dresses from Catherine Malandrino, reinterpreted, '60s modern styles from Karta, and sweetly polished tops from Mint. Now all we need is a little arm candy. (Hear that, Jason Lewis?) Flirty looks for city girls? Find them right here, at shopbop.

Trend Alert: A Fairy Tale Life

Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty. When we were six, we wanted to be them all. Ah, who are we kidding? We still do. But a grown woman parading around in puffy skirts and tiaras is hardly acceptable in today's society. Lucky for us, spring is letting us indulge our girly urges in a more understated way with pastel hues, ruffles, and lace from the likes of Catherine Malandrino, Mint Jodi Arnold, Rebecca Taylor, and more. So go ahead, layer on the girly chic and start living your fairy-tale life right now, at shopbop.*
