Not Without My Wellies

Designed in 1856 for 'walking Scotland's rugged terrain and combating its unpredictable weather,' classic Hunter Wellies have since taken a star turn, becoming the footwear of choice for urban hipsters and outdoor music festival aficionados. Despite their newfound It-boot status however, Hunters remain true to their practical roots. And even if your stomping grounds are more Seventh Avenue than Scottish moor, Hunters will keep your tootsies nice n' dry. How much do we love our Hunters? Let's just say we're ready to write our own Lifetime Original Movie: Not Without My Wellies. Functional, fashionable Hunter boots? Get your pair right here, at shopbop.

Glastonbury Chic

The Glastonbury Festival has come and gone, and whether you’re a Mark Ronson fan or more of a Leonard Cohen girl, three stylish pieces were de rigueur for the weekend.
High-waisted Denim
Fashion-forward and still unexpected, high-waisted denim showed up in summer shorts.
Wellington Boots
Kate Moss led the pack, but every other practical-minded festival-goer had the same idea and embraced their waterproof Hunters and Tretorns.
Technicolor Ray-Bans
Quirky, statement colors in the classic Wayfarer shape, Ray-Bans (and look-alikes) were all over Worthy Farm.

Check out style.com for awesome photos of the weekend’s fashions – then put together your own mud-skipping ensemble at shopbop!

Monday à la Moss!

This installment of MALM finds our girl Kate at that Brit hipster-happening, the Glastonbury Music Festival. Pulled-together yet never precious, Kate’s utterly personal look feels perfectly in tune with her laid-back, music fest surroundings. (Not surprising, considering Kate was one of the foremost pioneers of the high/low, luxe groupie look.) But enough with the waxing rhapsodic for the moment, let’s get to the good part where I recreate Kate with stuff from shopbop.

Glastonbury saw Kate pairing her go-to grey skinnies (these are J Brand) with navy Hunter Wellies and a brilliantly unexpected silky top. (It’s not metallic, but methinks Moss would adore this Helmut Lang one just as much.) This functional-yet-fashionable Foley + Corinna bag looks a lot like the one she has over her shoulder, and this military-inspired Mike & Chris jacket is practical and adds just the right amount of edge. And of course, no Kate ensemble would be complete without a pendant and a couple of really cool rings. (Photo courtesy of Jezebel.)

Walk This Way: Footwear for Anywhere

Summer finds you at bars and barbeques, on sidewalks and boardwalks, out for date nights and ladies' nights, to name just a few--whew! So make sure your shoe wardrobe is all-occasion ready, too! Nothing inspires singing in the rain quite like a sweet Hunter boot, while a downtown-cool high-top is tough yet cute. A seriously sexy platform pump is sure to make you feel dance-y and a flat metallic sandal makes summer basics feel fancy. Got places to go? You most certainly do. Summer footwear for anywhere? It's at shopbop, just for you.

Call Me Mellow Yellow

It happens every year. I pick a color and fixate on it until the next season rolls around. Last year, it was deep purple (okay, I still kind of love that one), and this year, I can’t get enough yellow. I’m not just talking clothes either. Stationary, housewares, flowers... The sunny hue has captured every last ounce of my attention. But it’s not such an unhealthy obsession seeing as how it’s a pretty classic shade for summer, and we’ve got an entire trend dedicated to it filled with dresses, tops, bags, and even a pair of adorably short Hunter wellies. So I’ll stock up on fake tanner for my naturally pale skin and rock the lemon shade from now until, well, until the next tint captures my fancy.

Under my Umbrella (ella ella)

When it rains, it pours, and lately that’s all I’ve seen. (4 inches in 24 hours?!) All this rain means puddles, mud, and unfortunate drips of water down the back of my neck. I have realized in the past 48 hours that an umbrella and boots will be accompanying me to every engagement on my calendar until the sky is blue and the ground doesn’t make that squelching noise when I walk on it. Hopefully I’ll be back in my cute sandals soon, but until then I’ve got plenty to keep me happy until the deluge is over. Umbrellas from Marc by Marc Jacobs will keep my neck dry and colorful Wellingtons from Hunter Boots will let me splash around in puddles like a 3-year-old – but without the requisite bath afterwards. I can’t decide if I like the metallic wellies or the bright orange ones, but figuring that out will give me something to do while I wait for my power to come back on.
